when i tried to use the auto discover, the widget prompts me to check my credentials and configuration. I suggests returning more meaning error messages.

Whenever I click More details… in the widget, my browser is sent to

URLs that are 403, forbidden.

Could an improved Widget discover, from the Exchange server, OWA URLs that are more browser-friendly?

(In the browser I can *manually* change just the autodiscover part of the name to form a URL that's not forbidden.)

Off-topic: might the URLs be not forbidden if I make a VPN connection?

I'm not a coder, but if ever I *do* familiarise myself with Dashcode etc. I might revisit this project and take you up on the offer.

Graham, Sorry for the late reply. I haven't looked at this code in years and don't even have a way anymore to run it in order to test things and make tweaks. If you'd like, I can add you as a contributor on the project so you can make some changes.

The widget alone works fine when I enter the

Another scrollwheel-enabled widget that I believe the developer is still actively working on (not sure about the first two I sent you) is the sports fan widget at http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/files/DashboardRedirect.html?Sports_Fan_1.3.15

That developer might be a good one to contact

I am not a developer and so am not sure technically how, but other widgets I have do have scrolling ability. For example, the CBS News widget or the iCal Events widget. There are others, I am sure. Maybe would be best to contact those developers and ask them how they did it.

I'm not sure how we can specifically add support for scrollwheels since this is all just html/javascript. Any thoughts?

Project Description

The Exchange Web Services OSX Widget is a widget that uses Exchange Web Services (EWS) to interact with a user's Inbox, Calendar, and Tasks.
The widget was written in JavsScript using DashCode on OSX, it uses SOAP to make calls to EWS to retrieve the users's messages, calendar items, and tasks.

Widget Configuration

The widget allows you to enter your Exchange server information manually, or to use AutoDiscover to automatically determine it.

Flyouts

Clicking on a message, calendar item, or task launches a small flyout.

Opportunities for Contribution

If you're interesting in contributing to this project, we need help in the following areas:

Use of cURL

We're currently using http://curl.haxx.se/ to make HTTP requests to EWS because the XmlHTTPRequest implementation in Safari doesn't support NTLM authentication. One option that needs exploring is using a widget plugin to execute the requests; the plugin would be written in objective-C and have access to Apple's full library - which contains an implementation of NTLM.

Flyouts

We're currently implementing the flyouts by dynamically displaying a <div> and using window.resizeBy to resize the widget. I'd like to explore how the Weather widget currently does this, e.g. smoothly resizing itself to show details.

Both the deployable widget and source code have been attached as zip files. When you unzip them in OSX, the contents are recognized as a Dashboard widget and a DashCode project.
